Our Montgomery County Blacktion Planning Team decided to focus on EDUCATION as one of our top three priorities along with healthcare and affordable housing.
A new advocacy organization was formed: THE BLACK COALITION FOR EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION.
We advocate for educational equity in public schools. Our goal is to transform our education system into a safe space that nurtures the Black brilliance in all of our children. Our community of Black students, their families, and Black educators and school staff is over 3,000 strong. You are welcome to JOIN US.
The BCEE Leadership Council launched THE BLACK APPLE BALLOT for the 2024 elections - the first of its kind for a Black-led organization in our county. Get your copy to learn about all of the Board of Education candidates and check out those that the BCEE Leadership Council recommends so you can VOTESMART!
THE ONE PLACE WE ARE ALL EQUAL IS AT THE BALLOT BOX.
Join or start your own local Blacktion Planning Team.
This is a MOVEMENT - not a MOMENT.
We will build and flex our advocacy muscles beyond the ballot box as we hold elected official accountable and advance efforts to cause Black well-being.
Bring whatever time, skills, talents and resources YOU have to the team!
Adults AND youth are welcome and needed.

ABOUT PUTTING ARMED POLICE OFFICERS BACK IN LOCAL SCHOOLS
"Against it. Would possible consider cross training school staff, that do not have weapons. to deal with violent incidents. Also would place police stations near schools for faster response. I doubt many people would welcome police to be present in their homes and workplaces, so way should we subject our kids to a police state environment."
